MARRIAGE
ENRICHMENT WEEKEND 2009
On
the 14th March nine couples set out for Wortelgat on the banks of the
Stanford Lagoon, for our annual Marriage Enrichment Weekend. The beauty
and peaceful environment is a wonderful setting to leave the stress of
life at home.
This is a weekend where couples are given a certain amount of input and
are then given the time to speak to each other about how they feel
about certain aspects of their marriage, as well as to share ideas with
other couples. At no time is anyone placed in a position to share
information which they do not wish to share.
During the weekend there are many moments of fun and laughter, feeling
special and just bringing an awareness of what it is that makes your
marriage special. The weekend is designed for couples in a good
relationship – not for those who are trying to overcome
problems. The weekend is led by Philip and Brenda Buckland.
"What
a memorable time we spent at the Marriage Enrichment Week-end. Both
Jack and I enjoyed it so much and reminis with gratefulness and a warm
heart.
We
were in Philip and Brenda's so considerate and loving care. The
catering and ambience set by Wendy and Reg are not to be outdone.
Petrus and Shani, our guest speakers, gave talks that were
well received and gave us much food for thought.
We
had lots of fun together, with serious thoughts and talks. There was
never a threat to our privacy.
The
atmosphere was so positive and full of expectations.
We
returned home with depth to our relationship,
reminded
of what brought us together,
reminded
of what binds us together,
reminded
of what great future still lies ahead of us,
reminded
of how great God is ,who cares for us.
We
wish and pray that each married couple of any age would attend a
Marriage Enrichment week-end.”
With
love and thanks

TRACKATHON
Our annual Trackathon on Saturday 23 May 2009 saw about 28 people
sewing in the hall, with several visitors from other churches. We will
need more sewers next year! We finished just over 140 tracksuits on the
day, plus another 135 at home afterwards, making a whopping 275!
Some were made specially for a school in Athlone. Some were made for
two crèches in Nomzamo and Asanda Village. The rest were
given to Helderberg Hospital, who were extremely grateful, as they are
always short of clothes for their patients who are discharged.
Thanks to Andy and Sylvia Loughton for the delicious pizza's and
freshly baked rolls for lunch! Thanks to Brian Wood and Andrew Fair for
keeping our spirits up. Huge thanks to all those who cut out, sewed,
made eats and served food and tea, and for the wonderful cash donations
received from many people in the congregation.
